The course was created because aside from funding, staffing is often one of the primary reasons that existing grassroots organizations are unable to build long-lasting programs and sustainable organizations. 

Adequate staffing minimizes these common obstacles to achieving measurable impact:

  • having long periods of inactivity

  • wasting time re-training staff to complete critical tasks (such as bookkeeping, marketing, community engagement, fundraising, etc.)

  • developing a campaign or initiative for a limited period of time rather than continuing the work to grow its reach and impact

  • not being taken seriously by other community stakeholders or donors

  • not able to keep good, passionate people due to low moral measurable impact

The course covers every topic needed to run a successful staff recruitment and management program. We share strategies, case-studies and templates for recruiting and managing a complementary staff that maximizes your impact.

Course Details:

  • Over 4 weeks - Two, 90-minute Zoom classes

  • Preparation assignments and homework between sessions include readings and playbook completion

  • In-class discussions and off-line idea sharing with individuals from varied organizations will share their approaches, challenges and successes with the class

  • Open Office Hours for questions

  • Additional one-on-one mentorship with Co-Founder, Dean Berg per student (up to 2 hours)

  • Final project = your customized staffing plan

  • Completion Certification
